Add a few dashes of lavender bitters to cocktails or other beverages to add floral lavender flavor, depth and complexity. Bitters are often added before shaking or stirring cocktails, but can also be added to drinks as a finishing touch - which emphasizes their aromatic qualities.
As a mixology ingredient, pair lavender bitters with ingredients like gin, vodka, Aperol, elderflower syrup or St. Germain liqueur, Amaro Averna, yellow Chartreuse, citrus (lime, grapefruit, orange or lemon), honey, rosemary, thyme, black tea, peach, plum, cranberry, apricot, or blueberry.
Bitters can also be mixed with club soda, ice, and (if desired) simple syrup to make a refreshing beverage without any other ingredients.
Bitters aren’t just for use in drinks. They can also be used in sauces, desserts, baked goods and other dishes. The amount to use will vary with the application and how pronounced you want them to be. They are quite strong, so generally a little goes a long way.
