Olivar de la Luna extra virgin olive oil is cold extracted from hand harvested nevadillo blanco olives grown on a family farm in the hills of Sierra de la Luna, above Córdoba in southern Spain. Its flavor is rich, nutty & fruity with hints of grassiness & a gently peppery finish.
Nevadillo Blanco is an olive variety rarely planted in Spain these days, making this oil a rare culinary gift. Jesús and Tránsito, the couple who run the farm, are committed to farming their olives sustainably and organically. All water used on the farm is collected via rainwater capture, and most of the electricity used is collected through solar panels.
Jesús and Tránsito have been working this farm for over 35 years (it has been in Jesús’s family since 1875), but lost ownership during Spain’s economic downturn. The company importing this oil from Spain has begun donating all of their profits to the farmers to help them purchase their land back.
Olivar de la Luna oil is certified organic by IMO.
