Cuttlefish ink (often sold as “squid ink”) is commonly used to color and flavor foods like sauces, risotto, paella & pasta. While true squid ink is blue-black, cuttlefish ink typically has a darker brown color. In small amounts it doesn’t impart much obvious flavor, its natural glutamate content can amp up dishes’ umami/savoriness & depth.
Unlike a lot of squid & cuttlefish ink on the market that is sold frozen, this product is shelf stable until opened.
Ingredients: Cuttlefish ink, water, salt and stabilizer: sodium carboxymethyl cellulose.
